Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Light Exercising Advisable When On Treatment For Arthritis?
I was diagnosed with acute arthritis in my foot/ankle by my GP. He prescribed Celebrex, 200 mg once a day. And, he referred me to a rheumatologist which I cannot get in to see for over a month. I need to know if walking for 45 minutes on a treadmill will do permanent damage if I cannot see the doctor before August. I have always exercised, I am 64 years old, and have had 5 abdominal obstructions requiring surgery and loss of significant parts of my colon and small intestines. I was on intravenous feeding for 4 months in 2013 after my last obstruction and surgery.
Celebrex is a drug used to overcome pain. During the treatment of arthritis, you can exercise. Take care not to over exert yourself as it adds on the primary problem you are having.
