Is Lip Piercing Safe During Pregnancy?

hi I have a very good immune system to begin with and I have become pregnant and this is the time I was planning to get my lip pierced because its winter where I am and I found its better for non irritated healing . I want to know is it safe for me to do this still some are saying yes some are saying no id really like a professional health care providers opinion thnx

Hi,

As a physician I would like to tell you that since your baby is on the way, you should give thinking about health of the baby first. You can pierce lip during pregnancy and yes it does heal less irritatingly during winter. But, there are even though little, chances that the lip gets infected. Now you should know that in pregnancy there are very few and selected antibiotics and drugs that could be used. Because many drugs cause side effects on babies.

Thus, I would suggest that you should postpone your plan after your baby's arrival and also, you could get lip piecing done in next winter also.
