Is Lithotripsy The Right Treatment For Pain Due To Multiple Kidney Stones?

I been passing kidney stones during the last months, they found 32 kidney stone, 24 in my right kidney and the rest in the left. I been able to tolerate them, however in the last two day I have a lot of pain and specially in my right kidney, also I have not been able to pee normally. My doctor told me that they were to many stones to do lithotripsy or laser, however this time the pain is not getting better even after taking the painkiller he sent me. What I am scare is not the pain, is that if my kidney is going to be damaged. Do I go running to the ER or try to wait for the stones to pass?

Kidney stones of smaller size are passed through urine. If you have kidney stones which are bigger in size then it's better to go for lithotripsy. These stones obstructs normal urine flow and cause damage to your kidney. Lithotripsy is safe and no need to worry. In this procedure shock waves are passed to break big stones into smaller ones so that they can be passed through urine.

Kidney stones are known to cause severe pain. Pain medication may help you to some extent. It's better to go to ER as soon as possible.
