General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I read carefully your query and understand your concern.

Hydromorphone (Dilaudid) is an addictive prescription drug.
It should not be stopped immediately.
The dose of the medication should be lowered gradually.
I recommend to lower the dose at least one month before the surgery.

Hope my answer was helpful.

If you have further queries feel free to contact me again.

Kind regards!
