Is Loss Of Hearing Temporary?

I have lost hearing in one ear and the other significant hearing loss too. First time most of my hearing was lost when I woke up one morning sweating. couldnt hear at all from the left ear. They said I have meneires disease but that doesnt fit. I dont have vertigo. A few days ago, same thing, woke up and what little hearing I had was gone. I can hear gurgling in my ear like fluid when I swallow.. ???? I saw dr yesterday that gave me steroids and said she could see a lil fluid like it was no big deal but i m broken hearted, I m deaf and hope its reversible Thanks Patty YYYY@YYYY

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

There are several causes of hearing loss and it is important to have the proper examinations to find out which.

An audiogram and a tympanogram are important to determine if the hearing loss is due to fluid in the middle ear or due to Menier or other causes so please talk with your doctor and have the tests done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
