Is Low Carb Diet Advisable For Healthy Weight Loss?

I'm around 300lbs and have been keeping a food journal. I lost a few lbs but haven't since. I count calories, carbs, protein, fat, and fiber. Calories have been 1000-1500 a day. I drink 80ozs + of water. I do moderate exercise. Checking my totals my carbs are way up there. I need to get this off and was wondering if I need to go back to the diet I used many years ago, something like the Ackins or the heart diet. I have no heart or diabetes problem. What do you think?
