Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking seroquel for almost a year. My doctor prescribed 200 mg a day. I have decreased it to 150mg and still feel like a zombie. I have had mood swings for years and been diagnosed as bipolar. Can I lower the dosage further without going into a manic phase. I also take Prozac.
Seroquel is a very good medicine for people suffering from bipolar disorder. Prozac however, is not recommended on regular basis as it can precipitate manic episode. I would not recommend stopping Seroquel as your condition get worsen after stopping it. For Prozac, you can take opinion from your doctor and if possible consider stopping it. It can be taken only during depressive episode.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant Gohil
