A week ago I went into surgery to have an ovarian cyst removed and repair the ovary through my abdomen, I know you are to abstain from sexual intercourse for atleast 6 weeks but was wondering when I could externally masturbate? If it is the same time scale

See, manipulation with the genital area is advised to be avoided. That's why sexual contact is told to avoid. Similarly masturbation is also advised to be avoided for a period of 6-8 weeks or what we call as 2 months more commonly.
