Is Medical Abortion A Safe Procedure?

Hi Dr, Today is my 49-day pregnancy. I planned to do abortion and just made a decision. My dr. has already given me the medicine. But I am not sure at this time it is still good to choose medical abortion. Last Thursday(02/09) my ultrasound test shows the baby is 18.9cm. Thank you

Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, it's safe if done surgically under expert hand in proper facilities like operation theatre etc in such period as medical abortion will also need removal of remains by D&C.

However with such period proceeding with abortion without a medical reason can be criminal in many countries so local guidelines should be sought.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
