Is Medication Necessary For A Lifetime When Diagnosed For Stroke?

Hi, I am from India. In Jan 2013 I had a stroke in morning, again a short one in March 2013, neurologist got me through MRI, EEG and other blood examinations. After a month went through manual EEG also. Nothing wrong was shown in any of the case. However I was prescribed Valproic Acid 500 mg twice a day and Ciracitam 12oo mg twice a day. In August and November, while driving had disorientation for about 5 second and forgot what place it was. Doctor prescribed Deplete but was discontinued after few months as it cause excess bleeding in any cut. In March 2015 was diagnosed Diabetic and cholesterol on higher side. Therefore {metformin 500mg+ glamipride 0.5 mg) + lipaglyn [morning] and Metformin 500 mg [evening] was added to my medication. Also taking Pramipexol 0.5 mg for Restless leg syndrom. My question is - Will I have to take neurological medicines whole of my life? I already have Yes and NO from two different doctor. Kindly help me out.

Hi All the medicines you are taking will have to be adjusted from time to time based on your needs and how your body heals. So it's very difficult to say at this point of time if all your Neuro medicines will have to be continued life long. For now it's best you take them . When the time is right your doctor may advice you to stop the medications or may even have to increase dosages or change medicines based on your health needs. I advice you to not worry about whether your medicines are going to be life long or not now. It will be wise to concentrate on getting your health better. Other things can be dealt with later. I wish you good health and a speedy recovery :)
