Dear sir i can understand your concern.
in very early part of diabetes there will be increased amount of insulin secretion due to insulin resistance along with that there will be mismatch of insulin release and glucose absorption.
this is the main reason for your pp being low
by directing our treatment towards weight reduction and reducing insulin resistance we can easily handle this issue.

General & Family Physician Dr. Shreya Kunder's  Response
Hello there,
I understand that so far you are not on any medicines for diabetes and still your Post prandial sugars (PP) are under control and only fasting is raised. Now this raises doubts about the type of diabetes you are having. There is a particular type of diabetes called MODY (type2) in which the fasting is the only abnormal value and PP is usually normal and this form of diabetes usually needs only observation and no medicines till things are under control. However to verify this I need some more information like:
1) Your age at diagnosis if you are less than 35 years
2)Did your parents or Grandparents also have this type of diabetes (which is difficult to prove as it is mild form usually goes undetected)
Genetic testing which is very costly and rarely done, although is the only way to confirm this type of diabetes.
If you belong to this particular type of diabetes you may not need any treatment at all , only diet and exercise may benefit or you may need a small dose of medicine of the group called Sulfonylureas.
If you do not belong to this type of diabetes and are a general Type 2 Diabetic then these values will go on increasing without medicines and you may need to be on medicines to control the same.
Do discuss these points with your diabetologist who can evaluate you and do the necessary testing and advise accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Take care.
