I just went to the lab on July and I notice I have high cholesterol. My doctor asked me about medication or diet and exercise. I choose exercise because if I take medication I will take it for life. But now I have a friend just got stroke because high cholesterol. Could you please advice what I have to do? Do I need to take medication? Total cholesterol is 245. Triglycerides is 184. HDL is 72 and LDL is 136. Please advice.. Many thanks
Hello, Welcome to hcm, Your cholesterol levels are 245,according to the guidelines we consider more than 250 as abnormal levels. So your cholesterol levels seems to be fine and also your HDL levels are 72 which is very good, this HDL is cardioprotective and prevent heart attack so you can continue with exercise and healthy diet.
Thank you
