Is Microalbumin Level Of 885 A Cause For Concern?

I have a stent put in to keep a kidney stone from coming out. While I realize there are some complications that come with this my diabetes doctor ordered a urine anlaysis to make sure there was nothing else going on. The results I got in the mail today indicate several out of range items, such as an 885.3 microalbumin level. My doctors office is closed. Should I be concerned with this number?

Hello.

You're spilling protein in your urine and you need a full kidney workup, including creatinine, BUN, GFR and a 24 hour urine collection for creatinine along with a kidney ultrasound an a referral to a nephrologist--a kidney specialist.

Diabetes can affect kidney function and you may need a medication like Lisinopril to protect your kidneys from further damage.
