Is Mild Frontal Lobe Atrophy Normal At The Age Of 51?
Is mild frontal lobe atrophy normal at an age of 51? My mum had a brain scan for a stroke and everything came back clear. Her heart is very healthy. She has Type 2 Diabetes but she has this very under control and most doctors are surprised. She also had some high cholesterol issues in the past but this is also under control. The consultant who looked at the scan said she had no stroke issues but on the report, there was some mild frontal lobe atrophy. I did not fully understand and asked if this was abnormal, which he said yes to but he said it was not dementia-related when I asked. He did say that my mum may begin experiencing forgetfulness, etc. Should I be worried and she has never displayed any dementia symptoms, impulsiveness or personality change etc?
Continue medication of diabetes and monitor his vitals at least monthly. There is no need to worry unless there is any symptoms. Yes, ageing related atrophy can be shown in some areas of the brain. Follow up with a neurologist. One sahaj 'Art of Living' course has shown to reverse atrophy effects in the brain. She can do that. Otherwise, it is not possible with any medicine.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
