Is Mononucleosis Contagious?

Hi, about a day ago I went to the doctors office because I was having pain in my left side of my throat and I am very weak. Long story short I ended up getting diagnosed with mononucleosis. My doctor didn t really answer all my questions so here I am. 1) recently one of my family members passed away and my family is having a rosary and burial. Would my family members get sick if I were to go? 2) what foods and drinks should I consume to benefit my recovery? 3) will my liver and spleen enlarge?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome to hcm,
Infectious mononucleosis also known as kissing disease usually spread via saliva. It can also spread by droplets.usually there will be enlargement of lymph node, salivary gland ,liver and spleen ,but not necessarily in all affected person. It's incubation period varies from few days to weeks, so its difficult to predict how long you should be isolated.

Thank you,
Take care
