Is Motrin Recommended To Treat Ankle Pain While Suffering From Toxic Synovitis?

My son has toxic synovitis and has had it for four weeks. Today he complained of ankle pain he takes Motrin every 6 hrs with really no relief I getting frustrated and lost on what I can do for him. Are there re any specialist in that field I can see I live in California? My son is nine years old.

I have studied your case

If there is no trauma history then infection need to be ruled out.
Your symptoms suggest systemic infection leading to swelling over ankle.

You may need to investigate in form of complete blood count, ESR, CRP,

So I will advise you to consult a specialist and do required investigation.
Motrin will give temporary relief,you need to treat root cause of toxic synovitis.
