hello there doc i have a question for you.I did my serology ELISA HIV1-2 test after 75 days of my last unprotected exposure. and it came Negative and at the end of my report it showed that the tests were performed by MEIA. i wanted to ask you that is this report of being negative is conclusive ? Thank You :)
MEIA stands for Microplate Enzymatic Immunoassay. This is a synonym for ELISA, which is a better known name for the test. MEIA measures the presence of antibodies against HIV proteins, which are produced by the immune system in response to HIV infection. It is very conclusive as the majority (90%) of individuals sero-convert, after 12 weeks of exposure, and >99% after 24 weeks. so basically at 22 weeks the result is negative , just to be very sure get it done @ 24 weeks and I guess it will come negative too.
