Hi,I am Dr. Prabhakar Koregol (Cardiologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I run approximately 40-50 milles per week and everytime I check my blood pressure it is usually around 135-140 systolic and 60-70 diastolic. Is this normal ? Sometimes it reads 137/62 like last night. Is this a safe blood pressure ? I have heard the bottom number is lower in athletes. But that is a huge difference in top and bottom numbers
Blood pressure varies from person to person, but the general consensus is that it shouldnt be outside the values of 140/90. So, you are within these ranges, but i would check with your doctor or practice nurse if you are concerned. There is supposed to be a difference between these two numbers so dont worry.
Edit - I'd love to know why i got a thumbs down for this answer. Some people just click for the sake of it.
