Is My Child At Risk For Any Germs As He Drank Soda Pop From A Stranger?

Good evening Dr. I am a mother of a couple of no nonsense carefree twin boys. I am a germaphobe and found out a couple of minutes ago one of my twins drank soda pop from a complete stranger while visiting his aunt at her home. Is my child at risk for any germs? I know this may sound completely crazy, but maybe not you being a doctor :-)

Hi

Yes sharing the same bottle is not a hygienic one. It might result in spread of germs.
But you should not be paranoid about that.
In fact environment is full of bacteria and viruses. Many respiratory illnesses spread through air (Sneezing, coughing etc).
And kids up to 5 years of age get frequent infections by which they build up their immunity.

So please relax and let the kids enjoy their childhood.
Yes it's a mother's duty to teach healthy habits to kids. But it's not good to be an over protective mother.

Hope my answer helps.
Best wishes!
