My 4 yr old son was suspected to be carrying a latent tb infection. He was in India for a prolonged time starting in 2009 thru Sep 2011, and was given the BCG vaccine. We did the skin test, which measured at 15 mm, then a chest x-ray which was declared suspect, then the tb gold test (which we found later to be not recommended for children under 5 years), followed by another x-ray of his lungs, which doctors confirmed do not show any sign of infection. Our county doctor has recommended starting isoniazid treatment for 9 months. Is there a need to get a second opinion?
