Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 39 years old and mother of two children, ages 19 and 17 years old. I'm now remarried as of six years ago and would like another child, however it's been rather difficult for the natural conception to occur. My question is, would it be a good idea to begin to take conception meds at this time? Note; I've had two miscarriages since the birth of my second child.
As a physician, I would like to tell you that there is increased difficulty in conception as well as increased chances of fetal malformations post 39 years of age. Also, since this will be your 5th time getting pregnant, there could be complications in the pregnancy and delivery itself.
Thus, I would recommend that you should visit a good MD Obgy doctor, get clinical evaluation and blood reports done. If everything is normal you can still try to become a mother.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question. Have a nice day.
Regards, Dr. Abhijeet
