Is Nausea A Side Effect Of Botox Used To Treat Spasmodic Dysphonia?
I had my first treatment for spasmodic Dysphonia which involved Botox injections in my vocal folds. That was 10 days ago and I am still having problems speaking which I was told may well happen. Now I am away on vacation and feeling very nauseous. I am so afraid of vomiting since I have had trouble clearing my throat since the treatment and am afraid I could choke if I do vomit. Do I have reason to worry about this?
Yes nausea is common after botox injection. This is temporary and will subside in few hours or day. Advice 1. Domperidone 10 mg per oral when you feel nausea. You can repeat the dose every 8 hours 2. Avoid alcohol, smoking, spicy food, and non-steroidal pain killer for few days 3. Eat small, frequent meals to allow the stomach to digest foods gradually 4. Drink 4 – 5 liters of water daily to avoid dehydration If you do not get relief by above measures then go to hospital for further management. Thanks
