Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Nausea A Withdrawal Symptom Of Stopping Sertraline?
I have been taking Sertraline for several years, but recently I weaned myself of them as I could no longer cope with the side effects. I have stopped completely about 2 weeks ago. Since then I have been suffering from mild nausea. Could this be the reason?
Even without abrupt discontinuation of sertraline, withdrawal symptoms may still occur to some extent depending on the time span of use, dosage, individual physiology and the length of time taken to taper off sertraline.
Among the symptoms that may be experienced are nausea, tremor, dizziness, muscle pains, weakness, insomnia, and anxiety. So yes, nausea will be there for some time.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Prabhash Verma, General & Family Physician
