Is Neck Dissection Necessary For Removal Of Swollen Lymph Node?
my gp referred me to an ENT/oncologist for a swollen lymph node in my neck. the ENT performed an FNA biopsy which was negative. he has scheduled me for a neck dissection to remove the node. from what I m reading that sounds like a very serious surgery. is that typical for a negative biopsy?
hi..FNA is negative ..that means you dont have any serious problem.. take antibiotics for 5 days ...it will reduces in size.. despite antibiotics swelling not reduces then biopsy is option. some surgeons do excision biopsy.means complete removal of lphnose swelling.. biopsy examination will guide thae further treatment.. so as if now not need to excision biopsy.. take antibiotics .. these is a simple procedure.. dont worry. take care
