Is Nose Bleeding A Symptom Of Post-concussion Syndrome?
My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed with a mild concussion in our Children s hospital ER last week after bumping her head on the side of the pool. Her symptoms following the hit were vomitting and being sleepy. She seemed totally fine once we were in the ER. We went back to the ER 3 days later after she had a nose bleed. She has never had a nosebleed before so we were concerned they were related. Two doctors examined her and felt they were unrelated and send us home. Our original instructions were to keep her from physical activities for 2-3 days. Today is day 6 and she has been fine so I allowed her to go to gymnastics. At the end of gymnastics she had another nose bleed. Could these be related??? Should I call the doctor again?
Well, it takes some time to heal any internal wound inside nose. i think its better to keep her from physical activities for at least 15 days to give a better healing time. Meanwhile, keep an eye on vomiting, drowsiness, severe headache, or loss of consciousness and if that is case you need to report back to emergency again.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Faisal Bacha, Internal Medicine Specialist
