Is Numbness On Finger Post Injury Normal?

Dear Dr Herrick, I had deep cut in my palm between my thumb and index finger. Went to doctor they put stitches. there was bleeding for one minute and after i pressurized the bleeding stopped. one side of index finger is numb. I informed this to doctor and she said if it does not go in 7 days she would refer me to hand specialist. No pain at all. My question is will i get back my senses any time soon. What care and food should i take to get back my senses normally.
