Is Occasional Alcohol Drinking Allowed For Someone Having One Kidney?

My friend (who is of legal drinking age) has only one kidney. He had his other kidney removed when he was an infant due to multiple cysts, and he wants to know if he can drink, because he has never been able to. Is it okay for him to drink alcohol on occasion?

yes, alcohol has very little damage to the kidney and has some heart-healthy effects (lower rates of cardiovascular disease in those drinking 1-2 drinks a day).
