Is Open Heart Surgery Risky At Old Age?

hi, ia very concerned about my nan, she is 88 and has been in hospital a month now with blocked/diseased valves, she is on oxygen, she has loss of appetite, shortness of breath and is very weak. She may be able to have open heart surgery once she improves slightly but will she be ok and could this be very risky?thanks.
