Is Ovulation Possible Without Egg Release?

Hello, I have been trying to get pregnant and was recently told I had cysts on my ovaries. The doctor said I did not have the symptoms of a typical person with PCOS and was probably stress related. I do stress a lot! Anyway, we have been trying, not for long but now we are getting serious and actually from last month been tracking ovulation. Can I ovulate and not release an egg? Or is an egg released every time a woman ovulate. I get my periods regular that is every month more or less within 33 days and it is always between 5 and 6 days in length.
