Is Pain Below The Tongue While Yawning Due To Excessive Coughing?
I ve had a sore throat, cough and runny/stuffy nose for the past week. Everything has pretty much cleared up except the coughing and now there is pain underneath my tongue when I swallow or yawn. Could this be from coughing so much or from something else?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have pain below the tongue while yawning due to excessive coughing . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like aphthous ulcer , oral thrush , muscle spasm , inflammation of sub lingual glands iron deficiency anaemia and vitamin B12 or folate deficiency anaemia . I would suggest you to do warm saline rinses and gargles , avoid hot , spicy and acidic food and take multivitamin capsule for 5-7 days . If condition doesn't get well then consult oral pathologist for proper examination . Doctor will examine physically or take sample for lab test . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics , anti inflammatory or may recommend removal of gland .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
