Is Pain In Chest And Back Due To Coughing For So Long Or Just A Part Of Bronchitis, and Is There Any Need Of Medication?
I have been coughing for about 10 days now. seems to be bronchitis. no fever, some phlegm yellow/light green but not dark, no blood. reading up on it online I have the symptoms of viral bronchitis so I didn't go to my doctor for antibiotics. I know that you can cough for weeks with bronchitis so I've just been drinking a lot of water and trying to get through it and ignore it best I can. today I woke up and my chest hurts and upper back. is this from coughing so long or just a part of bronchitis? at what point do I need to go to my doctor? it hurts but I'm not having trouble breathing. don't want to go and have them say, "get rest, drink fluids." waste of a co pay and 80 minutes spent driving there and back! :)
If you are having yellow/ green phlegm then you should be taking an antibiotic. Delaying the treatment may lead to pneumonia. The pain in chest and back can be due to cough for so long but if you feel increase in pain with deep inhalation also then it is a sign that you should not take your symptoms lightly. It could be a sign of inflammation of the covering of the lungs.
