Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have experienced sharp pains in my chest in the past and it has been considered anxiety or panic attacks, but yesterday I had a crushing pain in my chest for about 20 minutes and also a weird pain in my throat was I having a small heart attack or was this also stress related? because it felt very different from the sharp pain I used to get, and I haven t had those pains in quit a while. but I have been feeling VERY stressed lately so im not sure but it hurt really bad and was like someone was trying to crush my heart.
Thank you for your query. The only way of knowing is to visit an ER and take an Electrocardiogram and consulting a physician. some blood work may also me necessary. I would suggest a treadmill test and echocardiography to rule out underlying pathology of the heart muscle. If you have a history of hypertension and diabetes, you need to consult a physician before undergoing any tests. hope this helps and fell free to get back to us if you need any clarification. wish you good health
