Is Pain In The Hands And Fingers An After Effect Of Hypothyroidism?
Hi Im 33 year old female i have hypothyroidism and i have lately been experiencing pain in hands right side ring finger down to wrist and have soft tissue damage as well but it goes down to the joints on the right hand ring finger middle finger and pointer finger left hand elbow hurts left thumb point middle and pinky joints hurt then my right foot right below the ankle hurt they are not throbbing or numb or tingling they just make my hands feel sore it hurts to do anything with my hands and it hurts to walk on the right foot i have had planter facititus on both feet and had that taken care of but what is going on
The hypothyroid condition gives rise to edema in soft tissue of various parts of the body, one of which is wrist region and retinaculum around the wrist joint space. It is the compression of underlying nerve structures which gives rise to throbbing, numbness, tingling over the hands from proximal compression level. The control of thyroid hormone level with anti inflammatory agents help great to control the pain in the hands and fingers.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
