Is Pain On The Left Side Of The Abdomen Due To Colitis?

over the last year I have been experiencing pain on the left side of abdomen. starts dull and goes to sharp. There is usually a large bulge or knot and I can get relief sometimes if I rub this area. I was diagnosed with having colitis. I m not sure this is a correct diagnosis.
