Is Painful Bump On Head With Little Pressure, Lightheadedness After Hit On Head Serious?
Hi. I hit my head about a week ago. I was drunk and don't remember it at all. I have no idea how it happened or how hard it was. But, I have had a painful bump on my head ever since. I feel a little pressure and lightheadedness, and have a little bit of a headache. I'm worried that it might be something serious...?
I can understand your concern. It is good that you are conscious and oriented.
The persistence of painful bump at injury site is collected blood and reactive fluid. It persists for 10 to 14 days and gradually subside on its own. You can decrease it by applying icepacks at swelling site, taking painkiller like Diclofenac sodium after proper prescription. Diclofenac sodium decreases swelling by its anti-inflammatory property.
If swelling persists even after 2 weeks and not decreasing or even increasing in size, you should consult doctor. The doctor will evaluate you to rule out persistent hematoma or pus collection. Further treatment will be decided after confirmation of diagnosis.
Hope it will help you. If still no relief, you should consult doctor.
Thanks. Take care.
