Is Pelvic Pain And Numbness Normal When Diagnosed With Adenomyosis?

I have recently been diagnosed with Adenomyosis on Ultrasound and Pelvic MRI two weeks before my 50th birthday (as well as an intra-mural fibroid not seen on the ultrasound). I am having awful pelvic pain on a daily basis including my hips and lower back at times spreading down both legs and causing a numbness on back/inner thighs. I have not had a menstral cycle since Dec 2013. My question is-is it normal for me to be having all this pain related to the adenomyosis post-menopausal?

Hello,

According to the history of your diagnosis yes it might be to have such a pain. Especially in the first time of menopause, due to hormonal changes, the myometrium tends to get thinner and it contracts which generates such pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
