Is Persistent Brown Spotting After Taking Depo Shot A Cause For Concern?
Hi I got the depo shot at the end of april/beginning of may. 16 days ago I started spotting brown blood and it hasn t stopped yet. I m wondering if I should go to my local er and ask them to do an ultra sound because the cramping is horrific, worse than before getting the depo when I was having full periods that lasted 3 - 5 days. I ve always been fairly irregular and only got the shot because they said that it would ease my cramping, its made it much worse and now like I ve said I ve been spotting for 16 days solid...
Spotting after taking Depo shots is common side effect. Depo-provera delivers a high dose of hormone progestin that causes irregular bleeding. This may continue for 3 months. For cramping get clinically examined by a gynae, get USG of Uterus done to rule out cyst, polyp, fibroid or endometriosis. To get relieve from cramps take antacids, PPI's & spasmol (spasmoproxyvon), one SOS when required.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
