Is Persistent Cough During Influenza A Cause For Concern?

My ten year old daughter is on day 6 of Influenza A and is coughing persistently today. It is honestly concerning. Is this normal for the flu and is there anything I can give her to help her? She has a fever of 101.5 by ear right now too. We have tried cough drops and honey.

dear healthcaremagic user. i have read and understand your question.
well the flu should have resolved by now and the cough should have been controlled. it appears your daughter have a weak immunity to fight off infections and need a good and improved diet rich in proteins, egg whites, chicken and fish, avoid excessive red meat. give her vitamin c tablets twice a day. a good multivitamin once a day max
i suggest you to book a consultation of a physician and get her throat and lungs examined .get a chest xray done and a complete blood pictue will definitely help in curing her cough.
another important point to note here that if she doesnt has any fever and doesnt have sputum in her cough. then probably she is suffering from cough due to hypersensitivity of the respiratory tract.
i advice you to give her syrup chlorpheniramine 2.5 ml twice a day.it causes sedation so better give it after school and then another dose just before the sleep for 1 week maximum.concentrate on her diet.
hope that answers you question.keep me updated
