Is Persistent Hoarseness In The Voice Due To Nicotine Withdrawal?
i used to smoke for approx 18 yrs and i have quit cold turkey in Jan-17. i had smoked for 3 days in between around april but have been smoke free for the remaining time. i developed throat clearing around April and it became very bad with constant throat clearing. i consulted a ENT and he said due to some allergy/irritation, the throat is red with white patches. he advised me salt water gargle, Allegra M, Veloz D (antacid) and Vitamin E. it has been almost 1.5 months now, the throat has considerably improved and clearing has gone away almost 80-90% with occasssional throat clearing. my voice is still hoarse and am worried about it.. i have now developed anxiety and i thing i lost ~ 3 kgs due to it. is it due to nicotine withdrawl ?
Hoarseness of voice is not due to nicotine withdrawal. Since you have positive smoking history and recent onset hoarse voice with weight loss, I recommend that you follow up with an ENT specialist to undergo laryngoscopic evaluation to rule out tumor/cancer of the vocal cords.
