Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Playing Golf Advisable For An Incisional Hernia Patient?
My husband has an incisional hernia most likely due to having an appendectomy last December. The Dr. will not perform surgery until he is able to go off Brelinta which he has been on since Dec,2015. He wants to get a hernia belt to wear but the Dr. says it will do no good. His (husbands question is) How dangerous is it to play golf with this situation? And.. would a belt help? He has very little pain with this hernia.
A hernia is a condition you can live with until it gets obstructed. In that situation, it becomes an emergency. I would advise him to visit his cardiologist to establish a timeline to go off Brilinta. In the meantime, he could play golf as long as he is not lifting heavy weights.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pranav Balakrishnan, General & Family Physician
