Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Playing Sports Advisable While Suffering From Bronchitis And Sinus Infection?
Daughter age 12 diagnosed with slight bronchitis and sinus infection. Doc gave her antibiotic and cough syrup. She is suppose to play in a basketball tournament tomorrow at 10:00. She will have had 3 rounds of antibiotics by then. Doc said no basketball, but I have been reading where it s ok as long as she takes regular breaks and drinks lots of liquids. No X-rays or anything and had a very slight fever, but none now. Is it ok for her to play?
It depends largely on how she is feeling. However, if her doctor, who saw her in person for an exam and listened to her lungs, recommended for her to not play basketball, then I would follow that, as he or she has first-hand knowledge of how her health is. If you feel she is much better now, you can call her doctor to clear it with him or her.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bonnie Berger-Durnbaugh, General & Family Physician
