Is Positive TB Test A Concern When X-ray Report Is Normal?
Hi doc..I m 36 yrs old lady my ESR level is 75 I had done tb test n it comes positive then today my x_ray report comes normal with no infection n I don t feel any symptoms of Tb like fever, pain fatigue I feel normal ...But I, m worried about my esr n tb test result what should I do... Plz suggest
Long answer: It is unclear exactly which TB test was positive.
Sputum AFB, Monteux ?
If sputum was positive for TB then its suggestive of TB, though your symptoms and Xray is not supportive of infection.
ESR is quite nonspecific, though it's value is high.
Repeat sputum (and not saliva) examination. If it turns positive go for gene expert test which will reveal susceptibility/resistance of bacteria to antiTB drugs ...and start appropriate therapy.
If sputum turn negative, HTCT chest and blood/sputum culture can be helpful in support/rule out TB infection.
