Is Postpartum Perineum Stitching Advisable?

Hi, I delivered mu child 7 weeks ago and I needed stitches. The Dr didn t sew my perineum up properly and enough so now I would like to have it fixed. My own family physician doesn t want to refer me to a specialist unless I am sure I don t plan to have any more children. I don t feel this is her decision to make. Please let me know what you think I should do? Thank you.

Hello and Welcome to Healthcare magic Forum!

Firstly Congratulations on your achieved motherhood! Epsiotomy or surgical widening of the birth canal is performed so that the baby is delivered safely and there is no injury to the perineal area, If there is any bump or pain in the sutures or any fever and specifically bleeding from the sutures, th then episiotomy needs to be repaired, so if your thinking to get it fixed then it's better you visit the doctor who had done the episiotomy during delivery so that he/she could repair the stitches.

Wishing you complete recovery and healthy motherhood!
