Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, my wife is 34 years old and 2- 3 years ago a lady doctor mentioned that she had less eggs left (I think in one of the ovaries) after her examination. At present my wife and I can not plan for a child due to some personal circumstances. So my wife is worried that after 2 - 3 years when we do decide to plan for a child, she will be 37 years old and may have fewer eggs left. Then she won t be able to conceive. This thought is giving her a lot of depression and sleepless nights. Could you please advise until what age generally a woman can conceive? Also, can she conceive even with less eggs? many thanks, Gaurav
Hi, I think you can conceive at 37 years of age. Also, there is a chance of pregnancy with less number of eggs also but you may need some medicines for that. You can consult a gynecologist when you plan to have a baby. You can take some medicines like clomiphene for inducing ovulation and can try a timed intercourse for 3 cycles. If it doesn't work, you can go for IUI. If eggs are very less, then you may need to undergo IVF also. So, be prepared for all these things. You can consult a gynecologist now also and see the present condition of the eggs in ovaries. Hope it helps.
