Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Being On Birth Control Pills?
i take birth control everyday. but i am taking an oral antibiotic for a sinus infection, and i had a steroid shot two days ago. my boyfriends condom came off inside of me during intercourse. i am supposed start my period in 2 weeks. i took Plan B within 30 minutes of this incident. I weigh 200 pounds. How likely is plan B and my birth control to fail and me get pregnant??
As a physician I would like to tell you that apart from antibiotic Rifampin (given in TB patients), it is safe to take antibiotics with OC Pills. Also, as you have mentioned you have taken Plan-B as well as your regular OC pills.
Thus, I would like to say that it reduces your chances of getting pregnant next to none. I would also like to tell you that you should talk first to a physician before taking Plan b in addition to OC Pills in future.
Hope this will help you. Feel free to ask any further question. Have a nice day.
Regards, Dr. Abhijeet
