Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Negative Pregnancy Test Results?

Hi I am on 40mg if citalapram and also on nerve tablets gabapentin. My missed period was 22nd December have done two pregnancy tests both negative. I have stomach cramps this week and two days running brownish colour wipes on tissue. Can I be getting a false negative?

I can understand your anxiety. Missed period is first indication for pregnancy. But you may get negative test immediately after missed period. Presence of beta HCG in urine gives positive pregnancy test. These beta HCG are present in urine only after 7-8 days after missed period. It is always advised to wait for 1 week after missed period to go for a pregnancy test.

Abdominal cramps and brown color wipes are suggestive of pregnancy symptoms but not confirmatory. Only confirmation is urine pregnancy test which you have to go after a week of missed period. Before one week there are chances of false negative. Citalapram and gabapentin has no effect on test.

Remember one thing, if you have a positive pregnancy, your citapram and gabapentin dosages are to be altered accordingly. Hope you understood the issues and act wisely according to that.
