Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Duphaston Tablet?
Hi my last period was Jan 19,2016. I checked home pregnancy test n it was negative. I went to hospital on March 15 n doctor check n ask me to take urine test n it was still negative. He recommended me to take Duphaston for 5days. So I started taking on March 20 n on March 22, I did a home pregnancy test, it shows a positive test. Am I pregnant?
I can understand your concern. Duphaston is a synthetic progesterone that helps in maintaining the lining of the uterus where fertilized ovum can attach by keeping the progesterone levels in the blood high. If the fertilized egg is not attached to the womb lining by the end of the monthly menstrual cycle, pregnancy does not occur and the progesterone level starts decreasing. Duphaston does not let this level decrease which is necessary for preventing miscarriage and maintaining growth of fertilized ovum. Thus, Duphaston does help in getting pregnant.
If you are having doubts regarding your positive pregnancy test, you can take another test to confirm or can go for blood test for pregnancy which is more sensitive.
I hope this answer helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. Take care.
