General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
Understand your concern
I pill is very effective in preventing the pregnancy. It is 95 percent effective as you taken with in 24 hour of sexual intercourse.
Delayed period is common side effect of I pill as it cause hormonal dysfunction (because of high progesterone). As you took after ovulation, I pill prolongs the luteal phase of cycle that lead to delay in period.
As your period already come, no chance of pregnancy. Nausea may be side effect of I pill and due to premenstrual symptoms.
Hope this may help you
Best regards
Dr. Sagar
