Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
Ovranette tablet contains
Ethinylestradiol 30 micrograms,
levonorgestrel 150 micrograms and is a
combined oral contraceptive pill.
Combined oral contraceptives like Ovranette work by over-riding the normal menstrual cycle.
It works by the following mechanisms:
1. Prevents an egg from ripening and being released from the ovaries each month.
2. Increase the thickness of the natural mucus at the neck of the womb, which makes it more difficult for sperm to cross from the vagina into the womb and reach an egg.
3. Changes the quality of the womb lining, making it less likely that a fertilized egg can implant there.
Since you have been taking the pill regularly for the past 6 months at the same time, it should offer you protection against
pregnancy, even though you had unprotected sex. Since only the time of taking pill is altered and if you have not missed the pill in this cycle, you need not be scared about it.
If you get your periods in time, it just says that you are not pregnant. You need to worry and
seek medical help only when you miss the period.
Hope the information provided is clear and useful.
All the best.
