Is Pregnancy Possible Despite Taking Unwanted 72 After Intercourse?
I had mefigest to terminate pregnancy in the month of January after that every month I got periods for three days.... Pregnancy tests at home were all negative.... But this month I m feeling that my lower abdomen is bulging out a little n nipples are very sore... I have again done p4egnancy test its negative... I had sex this after periods last month and had unwanted 72 with in 2 hrs.... Is there any chance of pregnancy.... I m expecting periods on 18th may plz suggest
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. Unwanted 72 is an emergency contraceptive pill. You have done proper thing by taking it by 2 hours after an act of unprotected intercourse. Although such pill can be taken by 72 hours, it would be better if it is taken as early as possible. The pill would prevent pregnancy by causing breakthrough bleeding within 3 weeks from the day of its intake. Hence, your period dates could alter by advancing or postponing, accordingly. In case you do not get bleeding by 3 weeks, you need to take urine pregnancy test and seek medical attention promptly.
